The 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show took place Monday night. The self-proclaimed “greatest fashion show on earth” was set and filmed in Paris this year.

The show featured six different lingerie segments, each with its own theme. The themes this year included “The Road Ahead,” “Secret Angel,” “Mountain Romance,” “Bright Night Angel,” “Dark Angel” and “Pink Nation.” Each model was elaborately adorned in not only the brand’s new lines of lingerie but also the notorious wings that make the fashion show so unique.

The show also hosted an impressive lineup of performers. Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and The Weeknd all sang some of their newest hits while the models strutted around them. The Weeknd in particular brought some added excitement to the show, as his recent split with model Bella Hadid left some wondering how the two would interact on the runway.

The highly anticipated “fantasy bra” was worn by Jasmine Tookes this year. For each show, an incredibly elaborate jeweled bra is created and worn to create one of the centerpieces of the show The coveted bra this year was estimated to cost $3 million and was worn during the “Bright Night Angel” segment by seasoned Angel Tookes.

Unique this year was the show’s focus on physical health. The brand has recently come under some fire for promoting and praising unrealistic body images for women. This year a segment showing the Angels training as they prepared for the show aired before commercial break.

One Angel was quoted as saying, “looking like this does not come naturally. Two months before the show I work out seven days a week, sometimes twice a day.” This behind the scenes look at the high intensity preparation that takes place was a nice recognition that all women are not created in “bombshell” fashion.
