The Oscar nominations for 2024 are in! The lineup for Hollywood’s Academy Awards, airing March 2, includes “Emilia Pérez,” the film with the most nominations, with 13, acclaimed musical Wicked, the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” and “Dune: Part Two,” among many others.
The leading film nomination totals are “Emilia Pérez” with 13, followed by “Wicked” and “The Brutalist” with 10. The total lineup for best picture includes the aforementioned three films, along with “Anora,” “A Complete Unknown,” “Conclave,” “Dune: Part Two,” “I’m Still Here,” “Nickel Boys,” and “The Substance.”
“Emilia Perez” has divided viewers from critics, with audiences rating it 23% versus critics 74% on Rotten Tomatoes.
For Best Actor, the nominations went to Adrien Brody for “The Brutalist,” Timothée Chalamet for “A Complete Unknown,” Colman Domingo for “Sing Sing,” Ralph Fiennes for “Conclave” and Sebastian Stan for “The Apprentice.”
The Best Actress nominations were Cynthia Erivo for “Wicked,” Karla Sofía Gascón for “Emilia Pérez,” Mikey Madison for “Anora,” Demi Moore for “The Substance” and Fernanda Torres for “I’m Still Here.”
Best Supporting Actor nominations went to Yura Borisov for “Anora,”Kieran Culkin for “A Real Pain,” Edward Norton for “A Complete Unknown,” Guy Pearce for “The Brutalist” and Jeremy Strong for “The Apprentice.”
Best Supporting Actress nominations went to Monica Barbaro for “A Complete Unknown,” Ariana Grande for “Wicked,” Felicity Jones for “The Brutalist,” Isabella Rossellini for “Conclave” and Zoe Saldaña for “Emilia Pérez.”
The Best Director nominations went to Jacques Audiard for “Emilia Pérez,” Sean Baker for “Anora,” Brady Corbet for “The Brutalist,” Coralie Fargeat for “The Substance” and James Mangold for “A Complete Unknown.”
A surprise snub was Daniel Craig, who didn’t receive a nomination for Best Actor after his performance in “Queer.” Also, Denzel Washington received no nomination for Best Supporting Actor after his performance in “Gladiator II.”
The Academy Awards are March 2, where these nominations and more will compete for the Oscar in each category.
