Hath You Heard? It’s Our Man Richard!

By Maci Taylor, Staff Writer

My Dearest Richard,

You have been tasked with teaching Xavier’s finest soldiers to fight in strenuous battles across valleys and rivers throughout this nation. Difficult? Ye. But, impossible? Nay.

Your soldiers were previously trained by the tyrant Capt. Sean Miller, who backstabbed our village for a better, more “All In” village. Treason! Villagers took to the streets burning and dismembering wee statues that were once tokens of appreciation.

For many sunsets, the village hardly slept as worries flooded their minds. Without a leader, who shall protect them from evil? Who shall bring vengeance to Sean?

But then, a beacon of light was bestowed upon the village. A valiant man was spotted riding into town on horseback declaring unmovable support for us.

Tis you, Capt. Richard Pitino! Our village erupted in festivities upon your arrival. Exuberance exuded into the air and the villagers drank their finest ciders until the sun rose.

We have been saved!

The villagers whispered rumors about your gallant time as the leader of the Lobos and when you reached the coveted “March Madness.” And when you steered the Golden Gophers through fierce and bloody battles. And when you were raised by your father, Sgt. Rick Pitino, a fierce leader on the battlefield, who taught you how to rally troops together.

Now, your father leads the Red Storm in New York, a competing rival of our village.

Are you up for the perilous task of confronting your father in battle?

Quite a gusty man you are, ay? Our village requests that you use those guts that have led you to victory countless times before to defend and fight for our village.

We may be small, but we are mighty, and our soldiers are eager to fight under your command. Though, it is imperative that you seek out other soldiers to build a militia that can withstand anyone that gets in their way.

Even a better army than the one that your father has made…

Our village graces you with our deepest gratitudes. The sun will now shine brighter under your regime.

Our lord and savior, our guiding light, our true one and only — welcome to your newest abode, Sir.

With much love and devotion,

The Village of Xavier
