Notes: Former basketball players thrive

By: Adam Tortelli ~Staff Writer~ Just weeks after their seasons officially ended, former Xavier basketball players continue to make strides off the court in their post-collegiate careers. Former standout from the women’s team Ashley Wanniger was named the head women’s basketball coach for her alma mater, Colerain High School, where she graduated from in 2010. Tough season for women’s basketball comes to an end

By: Kyle Isaacs ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier women’s basketball team began its season with a splash, though the breaking news story was not ideal for the Musketeers. Less than one month prior to the start of the 2013-14 campaign, head coach Amy Waugh resigned from her position, forcing then-assistant coach Brian Neal to assume head coaching duties. Neal was initially tagged as the interim coach but was named the full-time coach on Nov. 7. Xavier women’s basketball season closes

By: Lauren J. Young ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier women’s basketball team finished its season with a loss in the first round of the Big East tournament to No. 8 Georgetown. The ninth-seeded Muskies lost on March 8 56-37 to the Hoyas at McGrath-Phillips Arena in Chicago. The Muskies’ overall record for the season was 8-23 (3-15 in the Big East). Although it was a tough loss and a poor shooting night of 27.1 percent from the field, there were a few notable players who stepped up.
