Three New Student Clubs Now Accepting Members

Three new clubs were approved to join the list of student clubs last Monday. The clubs are Table-Top and Roleplaying Games Club, International Business Club and X-COBRA.

Senior international business major Roberto Gonzalez Garcia began trying to reinstate the International Business Club in August of 2024 after it dissolved in 2021.

The club was started to better prepare students for their career in international business and give them a community to share experiences inside the major.

“We have two goals: we want to create a more knit community, and we want to walk with students during their four years here,” Gonzalez Garcia stated.

The International Business Club is open to all majors and aims to foster conversation about this field of work with Xavier students.

Junior marketing major Patrick Kayes serves as president of the Table-Top and Roleplaying Games Club. The club was originally pitched in October and is now officially part of the list of clubs supported by the Office of Student Involvement.

New groups Table-Top and Roleplaying Games Club, International Business Club and X-COBRA have been added to the list of official clubs.

The club originated after a group of friends played the games weekly. It has since been made open to all students to come together to play these games. Kayes is hoping that a lot of students will join the club to try something new.

“We want to create a safe environment and create a community where people can play these games, even if it’s something they’ve never done before,” Kayes said. “We want to break the stigma around these games. It’s a different community than people may think.”

X-COBRA stands for Xavier Coalition for Black Revolutionary Artists. Led by senior fine arts major Kezia Copeland, the club aims to create a safe space for artists of color in the art world and at Xavier.

“We want to develop connections for a unique group and its allies to find opportunities, support and community. The art world can be hard to navigate, and we want to support each other in that,” Copeland said.

The club, originally pitched in August of 2024, aims to become a well-known space of support for those looking for connection in the art community.

“We want to be a connection center that people can come to for internships and that kind of thing,” Copeland added.

The establishment of these new clubs comes after approval from the Student Government Association. These clubs will now receive funding from Xavier and will be holding events in the coming weeks, which can be found on EngageXU.

“It has been so exciting to get to learn about all the new clubs eager Xavier students are wanting to form… I am so pumped to see them thrive within the community,” first-year Philosophy, Politics and the Public and political science major Allison Gorius who serves as a Student Government Senator said.
