Volleyball tops Northwestern

By: Luke Feliciano ~Guest Writer~ The Xavier women’s volleyball team dropped the first two games of the Dayton Invitational to Dayton and Chattanooga, respectively, but capped off the weekend by sweeping the Northwestern Wildcats three sets to none. In the opening game of the invitational, the Musketeers had a tough matchup against an undefeated Dayton Flyer team. They were able to halt the Flyers from completing the straight set sweep but ended up losing the match three sets to one. Volleyball keeps killing it

By: Donald Menke ~Staff Writer~ The volleyball team continued its hot streak in conference play, downing Seton Hall three sets to none by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-22 this past Friday. The first set was a close one with eight ties and five lead changes. However, Xavier managed to pull away with a 12-4 run to close the set. The second set was not nearly as close, with Xavier jumping out to a 7-3 lead and winning the set by seven. The third set was the closest, even after Seton Hall got out to a 7-1 lead. Volleyball struggles at Ohio

By: Andrew Utz ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier volleyball team had a rough weekend at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Ohio University. The Musketeers’ first game was Sept. 4 against the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan captured the first two sets from Xavier, scoring 21- 25 and 18-25. Xavier managed to win the third set 27-25, but the Wolverines took the fourth and final set 25-11. Junior Abbey Bessler led the team with 10 kills, as well as two blocks and two aces.
