By: Austin Gill ~Copy Editor~ The NBA’s MVP race has been neck-and-neck all season and, with only weeks to go until playoffs, it’s as close as ever. With decorated resumes, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Stephen Curry remain the top candidates vying for 2015’s distinction. Westbrook has shouldered the load over Oklahoma City’s injury-plagued season with eye-popping single-game averages of 27.6 points (shooting 42.5 percent, 8.6 assists, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals). Stephen Curry, Zach LaVine shine in skills competitions By: Austin Gill ~Copy Editor~ For those reluctant to watch the NBA’s annual All-Star game and its characteristic lack of defense, 2015 offered much of the same. Sunday’s game featured some wild shots and acrobatic finishes, but the low-effort spectacle was, as usual, absurd. The West outlasted the East, 163-158, behind Russell Westbrook’s 41 points. Westbrook, a point guard, tacked on just one assist to earn the game’s MVP award. Opinion: NBA All-Star weekend

By: Austin Gill ~Copy Editor~ The 2015 NBA All-Star weekend is fast approaching, and it appears this year’s can’t-miss event is the Footlocker 3-Point Contest. The impressive eight-player field includes the NBA’s top five players in three-point makes this season. Wesley Matthews (Portland) leads the way with the most 3-point field goals made thus far at 158. Steph Curry (Golden State) and Kyle Korver (Atlanta) follow close behind with 156. Curry’s backcourt partner, Klay Thompson, comes next with 151, and Houston’s James Harden rounds out the top five in makes with 137.
