Georgetown plays Cinderella, wins Big East

By: Joe Laurich, Staff Writer After being picked to finish last according to the Big East Preseason Coaches Poll, the Georgetown Hoyas rallied on Saturday to win the Big East Tournament. They entered the tournament as No. 8 seed in the conference, but their underdog status couldn’t stop the Patrick Ewing-led Hoyas from earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. During the regular season, Georgetown won four of their last six games. Women’s tennis improves to 3-0 in conference play

By: Isabel Smith ~Staff Writer~ Xavier women’s tennis wrapped up weekend play against two Big East teams on Sunday, defeating Providence 7-0 on March 25 and Seton Hall 5-2 on March 26. With the victories, the Musketeers extended their winning streak to four. The streak is the team’s longest of the year. The Musketeers began the weekend of play by shutting out the Friars. Senior Sydney Liggins, senior Cristina Di Lorenzo, junior Lauren Ghidotti, freshman Rachael Reichenbach, sophomore Sophia Abelson and sophomore Zoe Manion all won their respective singles matches.
