Cross country continues strong run

By: Donald Menke ~Staff Writer~ Both Xavier men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the National Catholic Invitational meet this past Friday, with the men’s team placing eighth and finishing four points behind DePaul. The women’s team placed sixth, finishing 11 points behind Loyola. St. Louis University won the men’s race, while Notre Dame won the women’s. The women’s team finished with five runners in the top 50 of the 5K, as redshirt sophomore Gina Genco led the way with an 11th place finish and a time of 18:11. Cross Country runs through meets in Ohio and Pennsylvania

At the All-Ohio Invitational, Xavier freshman Ryan Nephew led the Xavier men’s runners with a time of 26:01 in the men’s 8K event, placing him 94th out of 647 runners. Cross country teams compete in conference championships

By: Brendan Burris ~Staff Writer~ On Oct. 31, the Xavier men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in the Big East Championships, which were held in Carmel, Ind. Among the 10 Big East schools, the women’s team finished in sixth place and the men’s team finished in seventh. The runners competed in an eight-kilometer race, with individual times and places combining to give a composite finish for each team. The top finisher from the Xavier women’s team was senior Audrey Ramos, who finished 34th with a time of 22:41.
