Cross country season closes

By: Julia Haber ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier cross country team concluded its 2016 season on Friday, Nov. 11, in Madison, Wisc. Xavier competed in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, where the women’s team placed 17th out of 32 teams while the men’s team placed 25th out of 30 teams. At the front of the pack for the women in the 6k was junior Madeline Britton, who placed 32nd out of 222 girls, with a time of 20:48. Cross Country competes in Big East Championship

By: Julia Haber ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier Cross Country team traveled to New York City to compete in the Big East Championship on Friday, Oct. 28. The women’s team finished sixth out of ten schools behind Butler, Villanova, Georgetown, and the eventual champion, Providence. At the front of the pack in the 6k was junior Madeline Britton, who finished 23rd with a time of 22:12. Britton has led the team over the past two tournaments, the Bradley Classic and the Louisville Classic, while breaking school records along the way. Cross country finishes strong at Bradley Classic

By: Julia Haber ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier cross country team finished off regular season action this past weekend in Peoria, Ill., with the Bradley Classic. The women’s team finished 15th out of 26 teams with about 200 female athletes attending. Leading the women’s side was junior Madeline Britton, who placed 13th in the 6k with a time of 21:15. The time is the 10th fastest 6k in Musketeer history. Britton also had the third fastest time in Musketeer history in the Louisville Classic 5k at 17:38.
