The Xavier cross country team finished off regular season action this past weekend in Peoria, Ill., with the Bradley Classic.

The women’s team finished 15th out of 26 teams with about 200 female athletes attending.

Leading the women’s side was junior Madeline Britton, who placed 13th in the 6k with a time of 21:15.

The time is the 10th fastest 6k in Musketeer history.

Britton also had the third fastest time in Musketeer history in the Louisville Classic 5k at 17:38.

Some other key performers on the women’s side were redshirt sophomore Gina Genco, who placed 47th with a time of 21:56, junior Allison Sinning, who placed 64th with a time of 22:06, and senior Rachael Sollman, who placed 89th with a time of 22:30.

Coach Orner thought that Sollman “really came through and had her best college race.”

Xavier’s men’s team finished 21st overall out of 27 teams with about 200 athletes competing.

Leading the men’s team in the 8k race was junior Garrett Knapik, who finished 78th with a time of 25:47.

Orner felt that “Knapik had a solid day to lead the group.”

The team had a solid start, but two key runners, sophomores Charles Korodi and Grayson Jenkins, had some medical issues during the race that affected the team’s overall ranking.

Some other contributors were senior Grant Perrelli, who placed 98th with a time of 26:03, and senior Aaron Peterson, who placed 107th with a time of 26:10.

Next up for both men’s and women’s cross country is the Big East Championship in New York City on Oct. 28.
