Track and field sets school records on west coast trip

While a few athletes competed in the All- Ohio Championships at the University of Cincinnati, the remainder of the team started off the weekend across the country in Azuza, Calif., in the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 13 and 14. On April 15, they drove an hour down the coast to Long Beach, Calif., compete in the Beach Invitational. Track team starts outdoor campaign

By: Julia Haber ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier track and field team opened up its outdoor season on Saturday in the Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis. The men and women both had strong meets that left them with 22 top-10 performances. On the men’s side there were some top finishers in both running and field events. One standout performance was by senior Russell Platt, who finished first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.84. Platt also earned second place in the high jump with a height of 1.88 meters. Swim team delivers at Ohio, Butler

By: Julia Haber ~Staff Writer~ The swim teams had a steady weekend of competitions with the women in the Ohio, Duquesne tournament and both men and women in the Butler Invitational. In the double dual on Saturday, there were some stand out performers for the Musketeers. Sophomore Caroline Gaertner took third in the 50 free and second in the 200 back. Sophomore Katie Kerr finished second in the 500 free with a time of 5:10. Xavier’s 400 free relay team finished in second place overall with a time of 3:55.
