Men’s soccer kicks-off conference play with win

By: Kyle Tooley ~Sports Editor~ Following a victory over Cincinnati and loss to Louisville, the Xavier men’s soccer team kicked off its 2016 Big East campaign with a win over DePaul on Saturday. The 1-0 victory put the Musketeers at 3-2-2 on the season. Xavier’s win over the Bearcats saw the scoring come in bunches, as the Musketeers faced a 2-0 deficit before scoring four straight goals. 35 seconds after Cincinnati pushed its lead to 2-0, junior Matt Nance cut the Bearcat advantage to one with his first goal of the season. Two for the road: Women’s basketball drops a pair

By: Donnie Menke ~Staff Writer~ It was a tough week for women’s basketball, dropping both of their games, losing 82-52 on the road against DePaul and losing on the road at Marquette 74-69. Xavier went into the game against DePaul with a three-game winning streak in the Big East. Xavier moved to 17-7 (8-5) on the season, while the DePaul Blue Demons improved to 20-7 (12-2). Imani Partlow was the team’s leading scorer with a career-high 11 points. Partlow was also the team’s leading rebounder, grabbing five boards. DePaul knocks off Xavier to remain in first place

By: Josh Bozzick ~Staff Writer~ The Musketeers women’s basketball team capped off its third week in Big East conference play with a 1-1 split in the two games it played during the week. Xavier outlasted the Marquette Golden Eagles (7-11, 2-5 Big East) last Friday night by a score of 71-66. Four Xavier players went for double figures. Senior forward Brianna Glover went for a team high 20 points to go along with 7 boards. Senior guard Jenna Crittendon provided 12 points, with RS Junior guard Raeshaun Gaffney and senior guard Aliyah Zantt both contributed 10 points apiece.
