By: Nick McGill Despite the snowy conditions in Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon, Xavier fans still made their way to Cintas Center for the Musketeers’ game against the Bowling Green Falcons. Xavier barely escaped the visiting Falcons in an 85-73 win in overtime, snapping a three-game losing steak. The first half was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams with seven lead changes. XU men’s basketball continues hot start

By: Nick McGill The Xavier basketball team once again overpowered its opponent in a 76-59 win over the Morehead State Eagles Friday night at Cintas Center. Xavier’s record improved to 3-0 for the sixth straight season. At the outset of the game, the two teams battled back and forth, trading the lead until Xavier went on a 12-0 run and then another run of 14-2 to gain a halftime lead of 38-23. Women’s basketball strong in big wins

By: Danny O’Malley The Xavier women’s basketball team had an impressive week, playing at University of Michigan and then hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The team won a hard-fought victory in overtime against Michigan 79-75 and also won against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Cintas Center 69-39. The team’s record now stands at 2-1 under new head coach Brian Neal. In the Michigan game, senior guard Shatyra Hawkes put up a career high 27 points and also added five assists, six rebounds and a steal to her stat line.
