Gellenbeck, young arms leading Musketeers into Hayden Field

By: Paul Fritschner ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier baseball team enjoyed the warm southern temperatures last week as it took on Charlotte, Georgia and Southern Mississippi during the course of a 10-day road trip during spring break. It played eight games and finished with a 3-5 record, picking up one win against each team. It went 1-2 against Charlotte, split with Georgia and went 1-2 against Southern Mississippi. Senior Joe Gellenbeck, the preseason Big East Player of the Year, was once again named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll for his performance during Xavier’s road trip. Baseball team chugs along

By: Paul Fritschner ~Staff Writer~ While Major League Baseball began its regular season games this past weekend, the Xavier baseball team continued to chug along with its season. During the past couple of weeks, the team has gone 3-6 while playing strong at home. The Musketeers traveled to Columbus on March 22, looking to extend their fourgame winning streak with a victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes. Despite a blitz of a start that saw Xavier jump out to a 5-0 lead, the team could not hold on in the latter portion of the game.
