Major retailers close stores after low holiday sales

By: Micah Price ~Staff Writer~ Several U.S. retail giants have recently announced the closure of a number of locations nationwide, citing poor sales. Sears, Roebuck & Company revealed Jan. 5 that 109 of its K-Mart stores and 41 of its Sears Outlets would be closing, with most locations planning to cease operations by the end of March. This news comes after the company announced the sale of its Craftsman tool brand to Stanley, Black & Decker. Sears closed 200 stores in 2015 and 78 in 2016. Macy’s Downtown Dazzle gives back

By: Megan Lux ~Staff Writer~ Guests gathered in Fountain Square over the weekend for Macy’s Downtown Dazzle where they celebrated Christmas festivities and ways to give back during the holiday season. The evening began with a performance from the Young Professionals Choral Collective (YPCC) and the Cincinnati Boychoir. These choirs formed at Below Zero Lounge in Over-The-Rhine in Nov. 2011. YPCC works to create connections through choral music. Now the group has more than 500 members, who are volunteer singers that live and work in the Greater Cincinnati area.
