Musketeer Madness brings big recruits to Cintas

Getting lost in all the chaos of 3-point shootouts, dunk contests and intrasquad scrimmages is the amount of recruits these events draw. Madness events also serve the purpose of hosting many recruits on campus at the same time. It’s typical for schools to host anywhere from 10 to 30 recruits at these events. Musketeer Madness kicks off new season of Xavier basketball

By: Donnie Menke ~Staff Writer~ Musketeer Madness kicked off the new basketball season last Friday for both the men’s and women’s teams. It included team introductions, a 3-point contest for both teams, a dunk contest for the men, team scrimmages and appearances by former players. During the women’s introductions, Leah Schaefer hoisted a stuffed animal Simba as she was introduced, and Jenna Crittendon wore boxing gloves. Crittendon also defeated Martha Thompson, Marquia Turner and Kindell Fincher in the 3-point contest. Women’s basketball schedule breakdown

By: Adam Purvis ~Staff Writer~ After the kickoff of this upcoming basketball season with Muskie Madness, the women’s basketball team is getting ready for its first matchups of the season. The team finished last season 18-15, defeating Georgetown in the first round of the Big East Tournament, and had a narrow victory during the first round of the Women’s Basketball Invitational. The Muskies are set to play 29 games total, 11 non-conference and 18 conference, before the Big East Tournament. The start of the season this time around is happening in a special way.
