Xavier joins Warrior Run

By: Regina Wright ~Staff Writer~ This October Xavier students, faculty and staff are joining campuses around the area by participating in the Warrior Run College Challenge for Week of Wellness on campus to raise awareness about mental health issues in the community. The Warrior Run will be held at 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 11, 2014 in Mariemont. The Warrior Run is a 5K race with a one-mile walk in memory of Jim Miller, a former staff member at Xavier University. Cross country looks for a fast start at this season’s opening meet

By: Matt Stainbrook ~Guest Writer~ Xavier men’s and women’s cross country looks to improve from last year after losing a big senior class including NCAA National Championship qualifier Clare Fischer. Also, the men’s team lost Tom Ohlman, who earned NCAA All-Region honors his junior year before missing his senior year due to injury. The men’s side is now led by seniors Corey Zielinski, Connor Buchholz and Matt Orlando while the women’s side is led by senior Audrey Ramos and junior Sarah Mazzei. Cross country running well

By: Chris Behler tourThe National Catholic Invitational, held this past weekend at Notre Dame, proved to be one of the strongest races yet this season for Xavier’s cross country program. The women’s team finished second overall among Division I schools, and the men finished eighth overall and second out of the Big East teams at the competition. Prior to the race, senior Abby Fischer was awarded Big East Female Athlete of the Week after her stellar performance in the Queen City Invitational.
