Photo-op: Students Share New Year’s Resolutions

By Clare Mckinley, Staff Writer

At the onset of 2024, students have returned to campus with some goals for the new year. Striving to embody Jesuit values, some students set New Year’s resolutions that aim to improve their physical, mental and spiritual well being.

While the challenge of keeping up with a resolution can be  daunting, these students are hopeful that they can follow through, at least for a little bit.

First-year psychology major Lexie Esker’s New Year’s resolution is to get straight A’s.
“To achieve this, I really plan on studying more and not missing class… I think I can do this because I did good last semester so I think it will be easy to repeat, so I am really hopeful about my resolution,” she said.
Sophomore finance and business analytics double major Nick Boyd set out to go to mass more.
“I want to do this so I can get closer with God. I think this will help me also build stronger relationships with others and foundations for everything else in my life,” he said.
Sophomore chemistry major Sofia Castillo’s resolution is to eat healthier.
“Last year I ate out a lot and it was not good and way too expensive, so this year I made a promise to only eat out once a week and try to make things with what I have around,” she said.
Senior health administration major JJ Grohs’ New Year’s resolution is to read one book per month.
