Xavier hosts Big East Championships

By: David Woeltz ~Staff Writer~ Xavier hosted the Cross Country Big East Championships for the first time ever on Oct. 31. The meet was held at the Golf Center at Kings Island in Mason, Ohio. The women’s team finished fourth overall against a Big East field that has claimed four of the last six NCAA titles, and the men’s team finished seventh overall as Georgetown took the men’s crown. Freshman Caroline Gosser set a school record in the 6k by 22 seconds with a time of 20:24.5 to lead the Musketeers with a 16th place finish. XUXC runs well in Big East race

By: Chris Behler The Xavier men and women’s cross country teams have shown adaptability this season. With a conference consisting of new teams to compete with in the newly formed Big East, these two squads have had to adjust to some inevitable adversity with a higher set of expectations going forward. They have not disappointed. Last weekend the women took fifth place at the Big East Championship. This feat was a difficult one to achieve, considering the talented competition including No. 3 Georgetown, No. 4 Providence, No. 7 Butler and Villanova.
