Initially, the controversy surrounding the music video stemmed from accusations that the video borrowed footage from a 2013 short documentary titled “That B.E.A.T” about New Orleans and the city’s culture without permission. Filmmakers Abteen Bagheri and Chris Black took to Twitter to accuse “Formation” director Melina Matsoukas of using footage from their film despite the fact that they did not grant permission. Coldplay’s new video sparks controversy

On Jan. 29, they released the music video for their single “Hymn for the Weekend,” featuring vocals from Beyoncé, off of their 2015 album “A Head Full of Dreams.” Immediately after the release of the music video, directed and filmed by Ben Mor, it became the subject of controversy and a target for criticism. 2015 Grammy Awards

By: Allison Wisyanski ~Staff Writer~ This year, LL Cool J hosted the 57th annual Grammy Awards, music’s biggest night when artists are recognized and honored for their craft. While Sam Smith and Beck dominated the evening, plenty of others left with a Grammy award in their pockets. Smith had a huge night, putting Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album under his belt.
