Men take gold, women take bronze in Big East Swimming

By: Jake Geiger, Staff Writer Xavier Swimming had outstanding performances this weekend at the Big East Championship, as the women finished third and the men won the team title for the third straight year, the sixth overall win in Xavier men’s swimming history. The women’s team capped the weekend with two third place finishes in the championship finals. Georgetown plays Cinderella, wins Big East

By: Joe Laurich, Staff Writer After being picked to finish last according to the Big East Preseason Coaches Poll, the Georgetown Hoyas rallied on Saturday to win the Big East Tournament. They entered the tournament as No. 8 seed in the conference, but their underdog status couldn’t stop the Patrick Ewing-led Hoyas from earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. During the regular season, Georgetown won four of their last six games. Swim shines at Big East Championships

By: Jack Dunn ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier men and women’s swim teams finished third and fourth, respectively, in the Big East Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in Long Island last week, winning seven events and setting 17 school records. The women’s team was returning a strong core group from its third place team from last year.
