Georgetown plays Cinderella, wins Big East

By: Joe Laurich, Staff Writer After being picked to finish last according to the Big East Preseason Coaches Poll, the Georgetown Hoyas rallied on Saturday to win the Big East Tournament. They entered the tournament as No. 8 seed in the conference, but their underdog status couldn’t stop the Patrick Ewing-led Hoyas from earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. During the regular season, Georgetown won four of their last six games. Men’s soccer halted in Big East tourney

By: Isabel Smith ~Staff Writer~ The men’s soccer team capped off its 2016 fall season in the Big East Quarterfinals. The Musketeers fell to No. 24 Creighton 3-1 on the road at Morrison Stadium. Xavier tried to gain control at the start of the matchup. Junior forward Matt Vasquenza assisted in a goal by redshirt junior midfielder Walker Andriot in the sixth minute, his first of the season. The point marked the 11th Musketeer to score a goal this season, and the assist brought Vasquenza’s total to six this fall. Volleyball ready for Big East play

By: Julia Haber ~Guest Writer~ The Xavier women’s volleyball team is currently prepping for its Big East opener against St. John’s, which will take place on Sept. 23 in New York. The Musketeers are led by a variety of players and will need to be on top of their game against a competitive Red Storm squad. Senior Abby Bessler has led the team, recording 191 kills in just 13 matches, which is good for second in the conference.
