Preliminary meeting of bishops does not reach conclusive decision on church teaching By: Richard Meyer ~Copy Editor~ Pope Francis concluded a summit of bishops in the Vatican on Oct. 19 called the Synod on the Family, beginning a discussion on the Catholic Church’s idea of family. Over the course of the two-week period, over 200 bishops attended the synod which met to open a dialogue, calling the Catholic Church to accept gay people, divorced people, as well as unmarried couples and children of nontraditional families. Archbishop to visit Xavier’s Holy Hour

By: Maddie Day Archbishop Dennis Schnurr of the Cincinnati Archdiocese will visit Xavier this Friday for a night of worship and reflection. The event is sponsored by Life After Sunday, a student organization that works to integrate the Catholic faith in individuals’ daily lives and build the community. The club chose the name “Life After Sunday” as a way to remind students that partaking in the Catholic faith means more than just attending Sunday mass. The Holy Hour will feature a brief talk from Schnurr, student-performed worship music, traditional Latin chants and time for self-reflection and individual prayer.
