By Alex Budzynski, Editor-in-Chief The Olympic flame was set ablaze last Friday to open the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, making it the first city to host both summer and winter games.  According o the International Olympic Committee (IOC), there are 91 delegations at the games with over 2,900 athletes competing in 109 events. There are 15 different disciplines across seven sports, with new events in bobsled, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, short track and ski jumping. Chinese Communist Party controls Hong Kong

By: Erin Albright, Staff Wrtier The dreams of democracy for Hong Kong activists were crushed on Friday as the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) passed legislation to overhaul and control the city’s electoral system. The rules were enacted at the closing session of the National People’s Congress in Beijing, as the restructuring of Hong Kong’s Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) was overtaken by the CCP. The new legislation, aimed at establishing Beijing control over the special administrative region, calls for a total revamp of the city’s electoral systems. With the way things are going, of course China will surpass the United States. The difference in population is evidence enough.
