Neal building strong track record at Xavier

By: Isabel Smith ~Staff Writer~ As Brian Neal heads into his fourth season as head coach and sixth season overall with Xavier women’s basketball, he’s leading the process of building the women’s basketball team into a successful program. During his tenure as the Musketeers’ head coach, Neal has turned Xavier back into a winning team. In the 2014-15 season, Neal led the Musketeers to an 18-15 record, a 10-win improvement from the previous season. In the 2015- 16 season, the team finished with a 17-13 record. Opinion: Too early to panic for women’s basketball

Coach Brian Neal’s team is coming off a rough three-game stretch with losses at home to No. 25 DePaul and on the road to Seton Hall and St. John’s. Gaffney and women’s basketball start season strong

By: Kyle Tooley ~Guest Writer~ The Xavier women’s basketball team came out of the gates hot, posting a 4-1 record with its only loss coming from undefeated Michigan on the road. It seems that with coach Brian Neal now able to firmly install his system in his second full season at the helm, the team is headed in the right direction. Preseason All-Big East selection Raeshaun Gaffney, the redshirt junior out of Fairfield, Ohio, is leading the way for the Musketeers, with 11.5 points per game (ppg).
