Women’s basketball strong in big wins

By: Danny O’Malley The Xavier women’s basketball team had an impressive week, playing at University of Michigan and then hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The team won a hard-fought victory in overtime against Michigan 79-75 and also won against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Cintas Center 69-39. The team’s record now stands at 2-1 under new head coach Brian Neal. In the Michigan game, senior guard Shatyra Hawkes put up a career high 27 points and also added five assists, six rebounds and a steal to her stat line. XU women’s soccer clinches winning record

By: Danny O’Malley The Xavier women’s soccer team ended its season this past Saturday with a 2-0 win at Creighton, officially completing the year with a winning record of 9-8-1 and a low conference record of 2-7. Xavier women’s basketball key players to watch

By: Danny O’Malley Ashley Wanniger – The 5’10” senior guard from Cincinnati, is going to be a catalyst for the Musketeers this season. Each season she has improved her statistics, going from averaging 1.2 points per game her freshman year to averaging 9.3 points last year. The Colerain High School product has already earned herself the Preseason All-Big East Honorable Mention award in her senior season. Wanniger was ranked sixth in the Atlantic 10 in three-point percentage with a .349 from behind the arch.
