Trump takes Oath of Office as 45th President

By: Regina Wright ~Campus News Editor~ Friday marked the inauguration of the 45th U.S. President Donald J. Trump, with former presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama in attendance. His children, Donald, Jr., Eric, Ivanka, Tiffany and Barron and his wife, Melania, surrounded him during the event, which received an audience of roughly 30.6 million. Trump wins office, Xavier reacts

By: Erica Lampert ~Staff Writer~ After a long election season, many Xavier students watched their votes count for the first time and saw Donald Trump become the new President-elect in a surprising victory. Trump locked up the position over rival Hillary Clinton by almost 60 electoral votes after winning the swing states of Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Iowa and Wisconsin that President Barack Obama won in 2008. The band released a new anti- Trump single, “Million Dollar Loan,” last week, kicking off 30 Days, 30 Songs – or, as The Washington Post likes to call it: “A playlist of songs that Donald Trump will hate.” The project is an independent website that will release one new song from various artists every day from Oct. 10 until Nov. 8, Election Day.
