Apple denies FBI software request

By: James Neyer ~Staff Writer~ A public debate has emerged surrounding the FBI’s request for Apple to create an iOS backdoor for iPhone devices. The FBI issued this request in order to obtain information contained within the iPhone of Syed Rizwan Farook, a suspect in the San Bernadino shootings. While the FBI has obtained information from iCloud storage due to a reset of Farook’s Apple ID password, some of the information is locked on the iPhone itself. 7 arrested, 1 killed in Oregon militia

By: Regina Wright ~Staff Writer~ After almost a month-long occupation at a federal wildlife refuge to protest government land policies, seven members of the Citizens for Constitutional Freedom in Oregon were arrested. Another member was shot and killed at a roadblock set in place by local law enforcement. The occupiers were stopped by law enforcement on a desolated stretch of highway near the refuge Tuesday afternoon. Armed militia stages takeover

By: Regina Wright ~Staff Writer~ Armed men broke into the empty headquarters of a federally-owned national wildlife refuge on Jan. 9 following a peaceful protest in support of an eastern Oregon ranching family facing jail time for arson. Ammon Bundy, the son of anti-government Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, is the group’s spokesman. Bundy took to social media to encourage supporters to join him and come to the outpost about 30 miles from Burn, Ore.
