Women’s golf takes home another Big East title

by jake geiger, staff writer Xavier women’s golf won the Big East Championship last weekend at the Callaway Mountain View Course in Pine Mountain, Ga. to make it their third straight conference championship. The Musketeers also had two players tie for first place individually to take home individual honors. Senior Abby Kiefer and sophomore Emma McMyler led the Musketeers from the get-go as they both shot 69 (-3). Underclassmen Kara Carter, Abby Whittington and Nathaly Munnicha formed the rest of the lineup, as they shot a 75 (+3), 76 (+4) and an 80 (+8). The Musketeers dropped two of three at home before a key road win at Miami By Jake Geiger, Staff Writer The Musketeers dropped two of three at home before a key road win at Miami BAfter sweeping arch-rival Cincinnati in all four games last week, the Musketeers looked to continue their hot play against non-conference opponents Western Carolina Catamounts and Miami Redhawks.  The first game was played at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio in chilly conditions on Friday evening. Previewing this year’s Sweet 16

By Jake Geiger, Staff Writer The first two rounds of March Madness have been thrilling, with massive upsets and shocks, while some of the top teams still advanced. The Sweet 16 is set to be played today and tomorrow, and there are some great matchups to be previewed.  The first game today features the top-seeded team in the tournament, the Gonzaga Bulldogs, as they face the Arkansas Razorbacks. Gonzaga escaped with a 82-78 victory over the Memphis Tigers in the round of 32 after being down ten points at the half.
