Nine students traveled to Chicago for USHLI conference this past weekend Students representing the Hispanic Organization and LatinX Awareness (HOLA) club said “¡Adiós!” to the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) on Sunday after a weekend of keynote speakers, workshops and seminars. The group traveled to Chicago for the three day conference. The event included both professional and social experiences, such as a graduate school recruitment fair, a plethora of cultural foods and live music. BORTAC busts begins border battle

Officers will aid ICE in sanctuary cities where local police do not cooperate The Trump administration has begun deploying Border Patrol Tactical Units (BORTAC), a specialized task force of highly-trained Border Patrol agents, to various sanctuary cities around the country. At least 100 BORTAC officers plan to aid Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers already in the areas, with assistance beginning in February and continuing until May. Agents are expected to be sent to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, New Orleans, Detroit and Newark, N.J. Amid the whirrs of ellipticals, the stench of sweat, the grunts of weightlifters and the concentration of runners on treadmills, a handful of students focus on one thing: making the Health United Building (HUB) a more welcoming place. As membership service representatives at the HUB, their daily tasks include signing people up for memberships, swiping members in, cleaning the facility, washing and drying towels and monitoring the floors.
