By: Erica Lampert ~Staff Writer~ Xavier University Montessori undergraduates recently began a Montessori club to further their education outside the classroom and bring the Montessori philosophy to the Cincinnati community. “The Montessori Club is a new organization to Xavier that encompasses Maria Montessori’s philosophy of education, the sharing of our educational experiences thus far and the opportunity to grow as future Montessori teachers,” Treasurer Abbie Fox said. Working together within a neighborhood is essential to this approach and it can be seen in the way that the proposed location of the garden in Victory Beach is actually City Park’s property, so the neighborhood must approve the plans in order for the project to begin. By: Lauren Young After being open for nearly 37 years, the Xavier University Montessori Lab School, located in Joseph Hall, will introduce an Upper Elementary School which provides Montessori education to children in grades four through six. With this heavily anticipated addition, Xavier’s Montessori School can now serve the educational needs of children from ages three to 12, which is a first since the school was first established in 1968.
