Amir Locke fatally shot by Minneapolis police

By Grace Hamilton, Staff Writer Nearly two years after the shooting of George Floyd, Minneapolis is once again the subject of national attention after 22-year-old Amir Locke was fatally shot by Minneapolis police on Feb. 2. The Minneapolis SWAT team entered the apartment building where Locke resided in order to execute a no-knock search warrant. The warrant was issued in connection to a St. Paul homicide that took place in January. Lawsuit closes, Bland case remains unsolved

It was only in the past week, however, that the Bland family received any form of compensation. The family settled in court for $1.9 million wrongful death lawsuit. The case has people wondering why police were held financially accountable, but had not been punished legally. Senseless killings must end

By: Kaelan Doolan ~Staff Writer~ Tamir Rice was killed at the hands of the Cleveland police almost two years ago. The pain in the Black community still remains. For those who don’t know the story, Tamir Rice was a 12-year-old Black boy living in Cleveland. On Nov. 22, 2014, Rice was shot and killed by police, after a caller reported that someone was carrying a gun.
