Swim teams deliver mixed performances

By: Kyle Tooley ~Sports Editor~ Xavier swimming was back in action over the weekend, as the defending Big East champions saw the women go 2-1 and the men go 0-2 at the Big 12 vs. Big East Weekend in Morgantown, W. Va. The women were led by freshman Emily Conners, who took home first place in both the 100 and 50 freestyle. Conners also helped her team in the 200 free relay, as she, freshman Abby Garner, sophomore Caroline Gaertner and junior Paxtyn Drew captured the top spot. Men’s swimming claims title

By: Adam Tortelli ~Staff Writer~ Xavier swimming concluded another successful Big East Championship meet this past weekend when they traveled to Ithaca, N. Y. For a second consecutive season, the men’s team brought back a conference championship to Victory Parkway. The team has won the championships both times since joining the conference last fall. Junior Nick Foster stole the spotlight over the long four days by winning two individual races on his way to being named Most Outstanding Performer for the weekend. Swimming season underway

By: Brendan Burris ~Staff Writer~ The second half of the Xavier men’s and women’s swimming teams’ seasons are set to begin as it prepare for the Big East Championships in two months in Ithaca, N.Y. The start of the season was successful for both the men’s and women’s teams. The season for both teams started in September, where they participated in the Butler Fall Invitational. Right off the bat, the teams’ newest swimmers, notably freshmen Paxtyn Drew and Alex Wolfred, made an impact. Drew finished first in the 200-meter medley relay while Wolfred took home second.
