Few faults as XU tennis notches weekend wins

By: Lauren J. Young ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier men’s tennis team obtained two victories last week and suffered one loss which brought it to 11-10 for the season overall. The women’s team followed suit by dropping one match and winning the next while on the road. The men’s team hosted Wright State April 2 and finished the match 7-0 over the Raiders. Seniors Jimmy Roebker and Mesa Mei both earned victories in singles. Roebker was up 4-2 in the first set when his opponent Hayden Joblin retired from the match due to an injury. Xavier tennis teams shut down Dayton

By: Lauren J. Young ~Staff Writer~ The men’s tennis team hosted rival Dayton on Saturday, coming out on top with an easy 7-0 victory. For singles play, Xavier senior Jimmy Roebker prevailed over Dayton’s Aidan Koross 6-4, 6-3. Senior Mesa Mei defeated Bernardo Sanson 6-3, 6-4, improving Mei’s overall record to 12-5 for the season. Xavier sophomore Adam Knoll also grabbed a win, defeating Dayton’s Josh Malyon in two sets 7-6(6), 7-6(2), impressively winning both set tiebreakers. This brought Knoll’s record up to 9-8. XU tennis back in full swing

Robert Jamieson ~Staff Writer~ The men’s and women’s tennis teams both found success over spring break. The men’s team came into the break with a 7-5 record but have been playing much better as of late, winning five of its last six matches. Xavier’s first match down south was against in-state rival and nationally-ranked Redhawks of Miami. Unfortunately, the Musketeers found themselves on the wrong end of a 7-0 defeat. The men’s tennis team recovered quickly, however, with a dominant 6-1 victory over Toledo. This past weekend Xavier opened up Big East play with a 5-2 loss at DePaul.
