After media-grabbing preventative measures such as Lady Gaga’s “Til It Happens to You” and the documentary film “The Hunting Ground,” sexual assault on college campuses can no longer be ignored. “Stop the Silence, Stop the Violence” brings awareness to domestic abuse

By: Regina Wright ~Staff Writer~ Xavier’s chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) hosted “Stop the Silence, Stop the Violence” on Oct. 20 as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The issue of domestic violence has been brought back into the spotlight after some high-profile cases of abuse. “Recently in the media, there have been several domestic violence incidents within sports, entertainment and the music industry, thus we felt it is time to bring awareness to campus and to educate people on what domestic violence is,” Briana Davis, president of the Pan-Hellenic Council, said. Xavier introduces SWAG program

By: Justin Worthing ~Staff Writer~ Xavier’s Title IX Office and the Office of Student Integrity are looking for eight peer educators (PEs) for their new Student Wellness Advocacy Group (SWAG). If accepted, PEs will facilitate events and programs which will educate students on specific wellness issues, such as sexual health, gender identity and alcohol and drug use.
