By: Hannah Paige Michels ~Head Photo Editor~ A shot was fired Monday night outside of a University of Cincinnati (UC) dorm just after 8 p.m. UC student Miles Garrett was outside the dorm, Dabney Hall, with a friend who began talking with a man unknown to Garrett. During ther conversation, the man pulled out a gun and fired a shot. “It was actually kind of directed toward my friend, but it was more in the air,” Garrett told WCPO. Coalition fights campus sexual assault

By: Nick Bergeman ~Staff Writer~ Sexual and gender-based violence have long been pervasive on college campuses, but Cincinnati wants to change that. City Councilmember P. G. Sittenfeld announced at a press conference on Sept. 15 that he is teaming with area universities, Women Helping Women and area law enforcement to establish the Cincinnati Task Force to Reduce Campus Gender-Based Violence. In June 2015, The Washington Post-Kaiser Foundation national survey found that one in five women and one in 20 men report being sexually assaulted in college since 2011. American Sign Language comedian Keith Wann performs at Xavier

By: Katherine Colborn To the delight of many individuals who are Deaf, hard of hearing or friends of the Deaf community, Keith Wann performed two comedy shows in Gallagher Student Center Theatre on Saturday at an event hosted by IDEA@X, the Deaf culture club on campus. Wann is a comedian who performs primarily in American Sign Language (ASL). Although he is hearing, he is the child of two Deaf adults (commonly referred to as a CODA) and sign language is his first language.
