In the afternoon, Pope Francis held the Mass of Canonization of Junípero Serra at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Junípero Serra was a Spanish Franciscan friar who aided in colonizing California in the late 1700s and converted thousands of Native Americans to Catholicism. Bellarmine to host live Papal broadcast

By: Erica Lampert ~Staff Writer~ Xavier University will be holding a Circle of Solidarity Ceremony to help excite the students for the livestreaming of Pope Francis’ address to the United States Congress on Sept. 23. Pope Francis will address Congress for the first time in history the morning of Sept. 24 in Washington, D.C.
