Women’s tennis suffers an early blow

By Jake Geiger, Staff Writer Xavier women’s tennis team were handed their first defeat this season against Big Ten power Purdue after a 7-0 defeat. The Musketeers now move to 2-1 in the early season.  The Musketeers began play with one win and two losses in the doubles slate. The win came from the No. 2 doubles team as redshirt sophomore Kat Lyman and graduate student Anne-Sophie Courteau defeated Purdue 6-3.  Both of Xavier’s losses in doubles were tight matches. Women’s tennis improves to 3-0 in conference play

By: Isabel Smith ~Staff Writer~ Xavier women’s tennis wrapped up weekend play against two Big East teams on Sunday, defeating Providence 7-0 on March 25 and Seton Hall 5-2 on March 26. With the victories, the Musketeers extended their winning streak to four. The streak is the team’s longest of the year. The Musketeers began the weekend of play by shutting out the Friars. Senior Sydney Liggins, senior Cristina Di Lorenzo, junior Lauren Ghidotti, freshman Rachael Reichenbach, sophomore Sophia Abelson and sophomore Zoe Manion all won their respective singles matches. Tennis opens conference play

By: Isabel Smith ~Staff Writer~ Men’s tennis kicked off a busy weekend with a win over Georgetown last Friday in Washington, D.C. The Musketeers found victory on the road with their 5-2 win. The match marked Xavier’s first Big East competition of the spring season. In singles, redshirt senior Matt Bishop defeated Georgetown’s Peter Beatty 7-6(3), 6-0. Four other Musketeers won their respective singles matches. Senior Jeremy Schneider, sophomore Jack Dykema, sophomore Trent Smith and junior Gabriel Araujo defeated the Hoyas.
