The Stars are Shining for the Future of Musketeer Basketball

By Joe Reardon, Newswire Intern

The Xavier men’s basketball team has secured two new four-star recruits who will join the team for the 2025-26 season. Nyk Lewis committed to Xavier on Aug. 29, and Jayden Forsythe committed on Sept. 17.

Lewis currently attends Gonzaga College High School in Washington D.C. According to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, the 6’1”, 190-pound point guard is the sixth-best point guard in the 2025 recruiting class and the second-best recruit from Washington D.C. Lewis also received offers from other schools, including Creighton University, Georgetown University, Louisiana State University, University of Michigan and Seton Hall University.

“Coach Cohen and Coach Miller really showed love for me since the start of my recruitment. My official visit played a big part because after leaving I knew I could envision myself there,” Lewis told 247 Sports. “I really loved the campus and the environment. They also showed me how they play three guards at a time and play at a fast pace.”

There should be plenty of minutes available in the backcourt for Lewis during the 2025-26 season with Dayvion McKnight, Dante Maddox, Jr. and Marcus Foster all ineligible after the 2024-25 season. If all the current Xavier players who are eligible for the 2025-26 season return, Lewis will be joining a perimeter rotation including Trey Green and McKnight.

Lewis would also be joining Ryan Conwell, a junior in his first year at Xavier who put up nearly 17 points per game last year at Indiana State University.

Jayden Forsythe is the top recruit in Pennsylvania and he is the 16th-best small forward in the 2025 recruiting class.

Jayden Forsythe attends Westtown School in Pennsylvania. Forsythe is the 16th-best small forward in the 2025 recruiting class and the best recruit from the state of Pennsylvania. Forsythe also received offers from Butler University, George Mason University, High Point University and Hofstra University.

Forsythe told 247Sports he chose Xavier “because [of] the love the coaching staff shows me and the vibe of the team.”

“They have everything I need to become a better player and it’s a good school in one of the best conferences in the country. I just wanted to be at that level, prepare myself for that level and be able to play as a freshman,” Forsythe said.

Forsythe’s arrival in 2025 will help solidify the rotation’s perimeter depth and simultaneously fit alongside the other returning pieces. Green and Lewis will be two of the smaller guys on the team, so Forsythe’s perimeter size and strength will be a welcome addition. Swain can handle and play-make enough to potentially be a big initiator on the wing, so Forsythe’s shooting and floor-spacing will be critical, particularly after Conwell’s graduation in two years.

Looking towards the 2025-26 season, the additions of Nyk Lewis and Jayden Forsythe signal a promising future for the program. With their unique skill sets and the potential to contribute immediately, both recruits are poised to make significant impacts on the court.
