Men’s soccer falls short

By: Kyle Isaacs The Musketeers fell to rival Butler University on Friday night by a final score of 2-1, then lost last night to the Bulldogs 1-0 at home in the first round of the Big East Tournament. The Friday night loss pushed the Musketeers’ record to 10-6-2 overall with a 6-3 record in the Big East. The defeat also caused Xavier to fall in the conference standings, the team with the third seed in the Big East Tournament. Men’s basketball off to good start

By Nick McGill The men’s basketball team came out on top in Xavier’s season opener against the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs. The 83-59 victory was a satisfactory result for fans that filed into Cintas Center to get their first look at the 2013-14 Musketeers. Xavier fans faithfully remained on their feet much longer than what they would have hoped for the beginning of the game, as it is tradition to not take a seat until the Musketeers score their first basket. Volleyball finishes home stand with impressive victories

By: Nick McGill After a much-anticipated rematch of Xavier women’s volleyball’s 3-1 win on Sept. 27 at Butler, Xavier wound up on top once again against Butler on Friday night. The Musketeers rallied in the latter part of the match for a thrilling win in five sets (25-22, 26-28, 13-25, 25-27, 15-9). This win pushed their record to 11-7 overall and 4-1 in Big East play. After winning the first set, the Musketeers took an early lead in the second set before the Bulldogs came back to capture the set.
