Women’s Center celebrates Take Back the Night March

By: Lauren Young The Xavier University Women’s Center will host a gathering before proceeding to downtown Cincinnati for the 24th Annual Greater Cincinnati/ Newport Take Back the Night March. This is the final event that Xavier is partaking in as a part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Xavier community has been involved with this march since 2008. The festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 at the Women’s Center, located on 1415 Dana Ave. There, survivors of sexual assault will speak, supporters will help raise awareness and free pizza and T-shirts will be distributed. XavierFest to feature student and nonstudent artists at second annual concert

By: Andrew Koch Students looking for a way to relieve stress from the last week of the semester have a place to do so as Student Activities Council (SAC) will host XavierFest 2013 on Friday, April 26 on the Xavier Yard. The annual concert series, which began last year, showcases student bands and gives students an opportunity to unwind after the last day of classes. TEDx returns to Xavier

By: Hollis Conners Xavier recently hosted TEDx, a series of lectures with the theme, “Touching the hearts and minds of others through innovation, service and leadership.” TEDx took place on April 26 in Schiff Banquet Hall in Cintas Center. A major portion of the audience was Xavier alumni. Students, faculty and other selected members of the surrounding community were also able to attend. TED, which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, is a global, nonprofit  organization. It brings speakers to talk about their ideas and spread these ideas to those who attend.
