Women’s soccer hot streak squelched in conference matchups

By: Danny O’Malley The hot streak of the Xavier women’s soccer team came to an end last week as the team fell 2-0 to St. John’s and 7-1 against Georgetown in its first conference games, putting the Musketeers at a 7-3-1 record. During the game against St. John’s, the squad was able to get off a total of six shots, including three on goal. Freshman forward Tori Doss recorded two, senior midfielder Mariah Whitaker recorded three and senior forward Ashton Green notched one shot. XU women’s soccer continues hot streakfielder

By: Danny O’Malley The Xavier women’s soccer team played Northern Kentucky (NKU) this past Friday and Northwestern Ohio on Monday. Both games resulted in shutout wins for the Xavier squad as it beat NKU 1-0 and Northwestern Ohio 2-0. After these games, the Musketeers have accumulated seven shutouts on the season. The team’s record now stands at 7-1-1, the same number of wins the team had for the entirety of the 2012-13 season. In the game against NKU the team totaled nine shots, four of them being on goal. The hunt for October

By: Danny O’Malley As the hunt for October begins to get real, it’s hard to sit back and say that I am not surprised the Cleveland Indians still have a chance to squeeze into a wild card spot. When looking back on the season and diving into statistics, it’s hard to believe where the team currently stands. The squad has no pitchers with 15 wins or more, a team ERA of 3.89, its lead home run hitter Nick Swisher has only 20, and its RBI leader Jason Kipnis has only a decent amount of RBIs with 78.
