Previewing the city’s biggest rivalry By: Adam Tortelli ~Staff Writer~ Feb. 18 marks another chapter in one of the greatest rivalries in all of college basketball as Xavier men’s basketball takes on its crosstown rival, the University of Cincinnati (UC) Bearcats. The matchup between Cincinnati’s two premier college basketball programs dates back to the 1928 season when UC came to play at St. Xavier College’s state-of-the-art Schmidt Fieldhouse. Men’s basketball falls at home, bounces ba

By: Brent Raines ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier men’s basketball team continued its up-and-down play in conference season, winning two out of three games in seven days. The Musketeers (16-9, 7-6) lost in overtime to last-place Creighton at home before beating Providence at Cintas Center and Marquette on the road in Milwaukee. The game against Creighton on Feb. 4 (11-14, 2-10) saw the Bluejays notch only their second conference win of the season in a 79-72 overtime thriller. Musketeers back to winning ways

By: Adam Tortelli ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier men’s basketball team moved to 6-2 on Dec. 6 with a 97-82 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide in front of a raucous, record-setting crowd of 10,250. The Musketeers found success through a balanced scoring attack in what has become one the team’s most prevalent themes through these early stages of the season.
