Lawsuit closes, Bland case remains unsolved

By: Kaelan Doolan ~Staff Writer~ It’s been a little over a year since Sandra Bland died under mysterious circumstances in a Texas jail. It was only in the past week, however, that the Bland family received any form of compensation. The family settled in court for $1.9 million wrongful death lawsuit. The case has people wondering why police were held financially accountable, but had not been punished legally. The official cause of death was ruled a suicide, yet her family, activists and many others believe that something far more severe happened to her. Senseless killings must end

By: Kaelan Doolan ~Staff Writer~ Tamir Rice was killed at the hands of the Cleveland police almost two years ago. The pain in the Black community still remains. For those who don’t know the story, Tamir Rice was a 12-year-old Black boy living in Cleveland. On Nov. 22, 2014, Rice was shot and killed by police, after a caller reported that someone was carrying a gun. Countrywide outrage, primarily in the black community, sparked over the death of the young boy. However it seems that history has repeated itself. Clowns spotted in North Carolina towns terrorize local residents

By: Kaelan Doolan ~Guest Writer~ Since August, Greenville, N.C., citizens have spotted mysterious strangers roaming the nearby forests while dressed in clown costumes. Some of the sightings were by children who reported that the clowns tried to lure them into the forest with promises of money. Though their exact motivations are unknown, their behavior has raised concerns. The first sighting of the clowns was reported on Aug. 21, when residents of the Fleetwood Manor Apartments reported seeing a clown trying to lure children into a nearby forest.
