Musketeers win opener

By: Nikhil Jelaji The Xavier women’s basketball team picked up a 70-65 exhibition victory over Division II University of Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon at Cintas Center. Four Musketeers scored in double digits. Xavier has gotten the best of the University of Indianapolis, winning four out of their last five meetings, including a 67-51 victory during the 2012-13 season. The two teams have met in three exhibition games and a pair of regular season games. Xavier’s 2013-14 freshman playmakers

By: Nikhil Jelaji Despite coming up short last season and missing the NCAA men’s basketball tournament for the first time since 2005, the future looks bright for the Xavier Musketeers this year. The 2013-14 season features a freshman class that looks to bring the Musketeers back to the NCAA tournament. The new faces joining the Musketeers are Myles Davis, Brandon Randolph, Jalen Reynolds, Kamall Richards and walk-on Tim Stainbrook (brother of junior center Matt Stainbrook). Women’s freshmen standouts

By: Nikhil Jelaji With head coach Amy Waugh resigning a few weeks before the season, the Xavier women’s basketball team will look to build around its eight freshmen under interim head coach Brian Neal. The Musketeers went 13-16 last season and 8-8 in Cintas Center. Three starters return to the Xavier lineup this season, but in order for this season to be successful, Neal will need his freshmen class to perform up to expectation.
