Women’s soccer season finishes earlier than desired

By: Donnie Menke ~Staff Writer~ The women’s soccer team ended the season with three consecutive losses after beating Villanova. They lost to St. John’s 3-1, Creighton 6-1 and Butler 3-0 on senior night. This was a disappointing end to the season as the team was looking to build on the win against the Wildcats. Against St. John’s, it was a close first half with no goals being scored by either side. However, St. John’s broke it open in the second half, scoring three goals in 11 minutes. Women’s soccer ends skid

By: Jack Dunn ~Staff Writer~ The Xavier Women’s soccer team snapped a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Villanova on Oct. 15, bringing its record to 7-8-1 overall and 1-5 in conference play. It had previously fallen to conference teams Providence, No. 6 Georgetown, Marquette and Seton Hall. The Musketeers lost 2-1 against the Providence Friars on Sept. 29. The Friars got ahead early, but the Musketeers tied it up with a beautiful cross from junior Kenadie Carlson to sophomore Samantha Dewey, who buried it in the goal. WSOC drops opener with Blue Demons

By: Jack Dunn ~Guest Writer~ The women’s soccer team dropped its conference opener to the DePaul Blue Demons after finishing up non-conference play with a win and a loss against Ohio University and Indiana University- Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), respectively. The team is now 6-4-1 on the season and 0-1 in Big East Play. The Musketeers beat Ohio 2-1 for their sixth victory of the season on Sept. 16. The first goal was scored midway through the first half with sophomore Samantha Dewey adding her fifth tally of the season.
