Baby it’s Cold Outside

It’s easy to fall prey to freezing temperatures invading campus. Try a few of these hot drinks to keeps warm.

Caramel Apple Spice

What you will need:
Cinnamon Dolce syrup (one pump for every 4 ounces of apple juice), apple juice, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon sugar, whipped cream and caramel.Caramel Apple Spice

What you will do:
1. Stir Cinnamon Dolce syrup and apple juice in saucepan and warm on medium-low heat.
2. Stir in cinnamon and sugar until dissolved.
3. Add desired amount of whipped cream and caramel.

Atole

What you will need: 1/2 cup masa flour, 5 cups milk, 1/4 cup fine chopped piloncillo, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.Atole

What you will do:
1. Whisk milk and masa flower into large saucepan until all lumps are gone.
2. Add piloncillo, vanilla extract and cinnamon. Stir until all are dissolved completely.
3. Put saucepan on hot stove and stir until desired temperature.
*Piloncillo can be replaced with sugar

Hot Spiced Cider

What you will need: 1/2 cup apple juice, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 cup concentrated orange juice, 1/4 cup concentrated lemonade, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 1 whole clove and 1 cinnamon stick.Hot Spiced Cider

What you will do:
1. Combine apple juice, water, orange juice and lemonade in saucepan and keep on medium-low heat until warm.
2. Stir in nutmeg, ginger and brown sugar.
3. Add clove and cinnamon stick. Let sit for 2 minutes.

Nutella Hot Chocolate

What you will need:1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons Nutella and a saucepan.Nutella Hot Chocolate

What you will do:
1. Set stove on medium-low heat and pour 1/4 cup milk into a saucepan.
2. Add 2 tablespoons Nutella.
3. Whisk ingredients until blended.
4. Pour 3/4 cup milk into the saucepan and stir until frothy.
5. Add whipped cream, marshmallows or cinnamon for some pizazz.

Spiced Chai Tea

What you will need: 2 cups milk, 2 cups water, 1 tablespoon black tea, 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar, 6 whole cloves, 1/2 teaspoon cardamom, 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger, 3 peppercorns and 1 cinnamon stick.Spiced Chai Tea

What you will do:
1. Mix all ingredients in medium saucepan and boil.
2. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Let steep for 5 minutes.
4. Strain in fine sleeve.
*Peppercorns can be replaced by regular black pepper

Cardamom Coffee

What you will need:Crushed seeds from one cardamom pod, 3/4 cup low-fat milk, 3 tablespoons finely ground coffee and sugar.Cardamom Coffee

What you will do:
1. Set stove on medium-low heat and stir seeds from cardamom pod and milk for about five minutes.
2. Heat 3/4 cup water to almost boiling and pour into a mug over coffee grounds.
3. Stir milk and sugar into cup.
*Cardamom can be replaced with cinnamon, nutmeg or ginger
