By: Bendan Kelly Yes, the government is currently shut down. Yet that doesn’t mean that people have stopped working for social justice across this country. Earlier this month, Oct. 5, was the National Day for Dignity and Respect, and thousands protested on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in support of immigration reform. Now, I could offers plenty of statistics on the flaws of our immigration system, but I will simply use the number: 11 million. Recognizing our mission statement

By: Brendan Kelly When I pull the door open and enter into the air-conditioned Gallagher Student Center, I look up and see the familiar large blue sign hanging from the atrium with the words: “An Education for a Better World, The Power of X.” I begin to look around and see students with smartphones in the palm of their hands looking down as they attempt to walk, text, check their email and not fall down the stairs at the same time.
