Stuck in Cincinnati overThanksgiving Break? Here are some fun, local events to keep you occupied before the final stretch of school work (even if most events are Christmas-themed). 105th Thanksgiving Day Race Participants can look forward to more than the typical run/walk through various neighborhoods of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. The race aims to bring family and friends together before Thanksgiving dinner begins. The origins can be traced back to 1908, making it one of the oldest races in the Midwest. Xavier students participate in OTR celebration

CINCINNATI — OTRAGLOW, an annual community celebration of lighted window displays in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, got an extra boost this week from Xavier students. This friendly holiday competition hosts over 30 entries in three categories: business, residential and nonprofit, that each creates a holiday and Over-the-Rhine themed window display in their office storefront or home. The event is designed to celebrate the holiday season and Over-the-Rhine’s rich and diverse history. Official judging began Dec. 1 and ended Dec. 6 with an awards ceremony honoring the top picks in each category and one grand prize winner. Music Department to host Christmas Ball

By: Mike Clark This Friday‘s Christmas Ball, run by Xavier’s Music Department, will allow students to stress less about exams and get into the holiday spirit. The Christmas Ball, the first of its kind here at Xavier, will feature free dance instruction, refreshments (especially desserts), door prizes, raffles, silent auction items, and music provided by XU Ensembles. It costs 12$/$20 for a couple, and will be held this Friday the 13th from 7:00 P.M. to 10 P.M. in Schmidt Hall’s Conaton Board Room.
